The educational aim of the Health Management Department;
To train professionals who are aware of the national and universal health system and its requirements, equipped with the necessary contemporary knowledge and skills of modern sciences to use the functions of management effectively and efficiently in the management process of healthcare institutions, who will contribute to the scientific knowledge and accumulation in the field, and who are focused on problem-solving and quality improvement.
Our department aims to train qualified personnel needed for middle and senior management levels of various healthcare institutions.
The increasing need for trained human resources in this field is due to the increasing need for privatization of healthcare institutions or the management of public organizations with a contemporary business understanding.
The aging population leads to increasing healthcare and social security expenditures, which results in a preference for institutions with high competitiveness that can provide the same service at more affordable prices. Considering the increasing demand both domestically and internationally in the coming years, healthcare management is becoming one of the professions of the future.
Our country is in an advantageous position compared to other countries that offer similar healthcare services at higher costs. Taking advantage of this, benefiting from the dynamism brought by cross-border healthcare services will only be possible with effective management of healthcare institutions, considering its financial aspect, and increasing competitiveness.
The curriculum of the Health Management Department consists of courses that provide general knowledge, management field knowledge (business, accounting, economics, law), professional knowledge in healthcare management (health services management, procurement and purchasing in healthcare institutions, financial management in healthcare institutions, cost accounting in healthcare institutions, quantitative techniques in healthcare, health information management, human resources management, procurement and purchasing, health economics, health planning, health policy, health law, marketing in healthcare institutions, etc.), and skill development (field application).
Institutional internships are provided at Gaziosmanpaşa University Training and Research Hospital, Erbaa State Hospital, and other public and private healthcare institutions and hospitals.
The working areas of Health Management graduates have a wide scope and variety of new employment opportunities. There is a need for human resources trained by this program in both the private and public sectors related to healthcare. Program graduates can work in administrative and managerial positions in all organizations related to health. The health reforms and trends in the healthcare sector worldwide and in Turkey indicate that there will be an increasing need for graduates of Healthcare Management.
Some important units related to the working areas of graduates include the Ministry of Health's central and provincial organizations (including the Inspection Board), public and private healthcare institutions (hospitals, medical centers, polyclinics, home care centers, dialysis centers, diagnostic centers, oral and dental health centers, etc.), insurance companies, social security institution, private and voluntary organizations providing health services (such as the Turkish Red Crescent General Directorate), university units as academic staff, military health services, pharmaceutical and medical consumable companies, press and broadcasting institutions, and various institutions, organizations, and service areas.
Students who meet certain requirements have the opportunity to continue their education for a certain period at other universities through student exchange programs (such as ERASMUS, FARABİ, MEVLANA).
